The American Marten is a wildlife subject rarely painted, and very unique to Wisconsin. Loss of habitat helped eliminate the marten from Wisconsin in the early 1900's. Today, we enjoy the results of a successful reintroduction program and martens continue to expand their population and range throughout northern Wisconsin.

This beautiful painting of an American Marten continues the fine art tradition of Terrill Knaack from Beaver Dam, WI. The marten appears three dimensional and full of life in it's deep north woods habitat.
